Welcome to Hartford Lending Hands Inc. is a Connecticut-based nonprofit organization committed to supporting individuals and families during times of financial hardship and crisis. What began on November 5, 2013 as a holiday outreach effort has grown into year-round community support serving families across the state with dignity, compassion, and consistency.
We are not just a seasonal organization. Families depend on us throughout the year when life becomes overwhelming and help is urgently needed.
Our Core Programs
Community Closet Program (Food & Clothing Pantry)
We provide food, clothing, and essential household items to families facing financial strain. Thanks to community donors, our pantry helps stabilize households and ensures families have access to basic necessities when resources are low.
Hardship Assistance Program
When funding allows, we help families facing urgent crises such as eviction prevention and electricity shut-off notices. Support may include partial rent assistance or utility payments based on available funds and documented need.
Christmas Help Program
Our founding program remains one of our largest annual initiatives, providing holiday assistance to families who would otherwise go without. This community-powered effort brings relief, dignity, and joy to hundreds of children and parents each season.
Serving Connecticut Families With Care
Hartford Lending Hands Inc. works directly with families who are navigating unemployment, reduced income, medical hardships, housing instability, and other unexpected life challenges. Our goal is simple: help families get through difficult moments without losing stability, dignity, or hope.
We operate with transparency, community trust, and responsible stewardship of donations. We proudly hold the Candid/GuideStar Platinum Seal of Transparency.
